Fat Transfer and Injections

WHY FAT TRANSFER AND INJECTIONS

Many of our patients complain that they have too much fat in their thighs or abdomen, but not enough in their facial cheeks or hands. Fat transfer and injections performed here at Miami Valley Plastic Surgeons allow people in Dayton, Centerville, Kettering, Troy, and other nearby cities in Ohio to slim problem areas and restore volume to thin ones all at the same time.

FAQs

A fat transfer and injection procedure is a two-step treatment that requires removing fat from one area of the body, then purifying and cleansing it so it can then be injected into another location. It is a very safe procedure that is often desired by those who wish to correct more than one problem area at once.

With a fat transfer and injection, there is virtually no risk of a reaction, since you are simply transferring your own body fat from one location to another. Fat can be injected into nearly any area of your face or body, allowing you to come up with a more customized look than what is possible through the use of other dermal fillers. When used to fill in the face, it also comes with an added benefit of smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.

If you would like to slim your hips, thighs, abdomen, or buttocks, but need to fill in sunken cheeks, thin lips, or aging hands, this procedure could be an excellent fit for you.

Tell us about any health concerns you have as well as any medications you are taking. We especially need to know if you have had a negative reaction to any dermal filler or injectable treatment in the past.

On the day of your procedure, you will be prepped for liposuction first. This involves:

That will depend on how much fat you are removing and the area of the body it is being taken from. Most procedures last between one and a half to two hours, but yours may take slightly more or less time.

Swelling is a common side effect after a fat transfer and injection procedure, both in the donor location and the transfer site. If you experience swelling, use ice and over-the-counter medication to help you alleviate symptoms. You may also be given a compression garment to wear in the area where liposuction occurred. If so, you should keep it on until after your follow-up appointment.

Lipo often does produce light scarring, but we will do our best to conceal incisions whenever possible. There will not be any scars at your injection site.

Once all of the swelling goes away, which can sometimes take up to two weeks.

You can expect the results of your liposuction as well as your fat transfer injection to last for several years.

The thigh is a common area for us to remove fat cells from. After removing fat, you could have sagging skin in that area, in which case you might want to consider a thigh lift.

Because you may have different needs than any other patient, we will not be able to discuss the exact cost with you until after your consultation. Cash, personal checks, and credit cards are always accepted for any of the procedures we offer, and many of our patients will also qualify for low-interest financing.
