Thigh Lift in Dayton, OH
Many people in Dayton, Centerville, Kettering, and other nearby areas in Ohio are plagued with thighs that are too large for their body. Others are bothered by the fact that their thighs rub together whenever they walk. These individuals can benefit from a thigh lift performed here at Miami Valley Plastic Surgeons by one of our board-certified cosmetic surgeons.
What Is a Thigh Lift?
A thigh lift is a surgical procedure that reduces the size of the thighs by eliminating excess tissue and tightening the skin. It may be performed to target the skin on the inner or outer thighs or to produce a “thigh gap” or space between the thighs.
Inner Thigh Lifts
During an inner thigh lift, an incision is made along the junction where the leg and groin meet. This is done so that a wedge of skin and/or fat can be removed, providing a more pleasing shape to the inner thighs.
Outer Thigh Lifts
Outer thigh lifts firm skin on the outer thigh as well as the front of the thigh. An incision is made along the top of the lower leg in a v-shaped pattern, and may sometimes extend to your buttock area. This allows the surgeon to pull the remaining skin up so that it is tight and smooth.
How to Get a Thigh Gap
The best way to get a thigh gap is through a medial thigh lift. Similar to an inner thigh lift, it targets only the tissue on the upper part of the inner thighs closest to the groin. It requires either an incision in the groin that extends to the back crease of your buttock or one running down the inside of the leg.
Benefits of a Thigh Lift
A thigh lift can:
- Eliminate chafing or rubbing
- Help people feel more self-confident when wearing shorts
- Firm a problem area that is notoriously difficult to tighten through exercise
Who Is the Ideal Candidate for a Thigh Lift?
Anyone whose diet and weight loss efforts have not produced shapely thighs may want to consider a thigh lift.
What do I Need to do Before a Thigh Lift?
Before a thigh lift, you should:
- Stop smoking
- Stay well hydrated
- Reschedule heavy activities for at least one week after your procedure
- Ensure you have a good supply of gauze bandages and over-the-counter medications such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen
- Arrange for someone to drive you home from your appointment
What Should I Expect on the Day of my Thigh Lift?
One of our staff members will take your weight and perform certain thigh measurements. Some markings may also be placed on your thighs to help guide the surgeon in making incisions. Local anesthesia or general sedation will be administered so that you are comfortable during your procedure. The appropriate incision will then be made, allowing the doctor to access tissue. Inner tissues will then be trimmed, and the remaining skin pulled smoothly over the top and secured to provide a svelte appearance.
How Long Does it Take to Perform a Thigh Lift?
Typically between two and three hours.
What to Expect After a Thigh Lift
You will have a compression bandage over your thighs, and your sutures may also be covered with a gauze bandage. Before leaving our office, you will be given instructions on wearing and changing these bandages. Most patients feel a bit groggy for the rest of the day. This is completely normal and occurs naturally as the anesthesia wears off.
Will I Have Scars After Getting a Thigh Lift?
A thigh lift does come with a high risk of scarring. Even so, all or most of your scar will likely be hidden.
When Will I See the Results?
Some results can be noticed right away; however, the biggest improvement will be seen once you remove your compression bandage a week or so after surgery.
How Long Will the Results of a Thigh Lift Last?
How long your results last will largely depend on your commitment to leading a healthy lifestyle. The benefits of a thigh lift can often be noticed indefinitely for those who maintain the proper weight and exercise on a regular basis.
Additional Procedures to Enhance Your Thigh Lift Results
If you also need to remove an excess amount of fat in your thigh region, you may want to consider liposuction at the same time you undergo a thigh lift.

Because you may have different needs than any other patient, we will not be able to discuss the exact cost with you until after your consultation.
