Hyaluronic acid is naturally produced by your body in decreasing amounts as you grow older. This can lead to premature signs of aging, many of which can be corrected with a Restylane® injection. Miami Valley Plastic Surgeons performs Restylane® injections for patients in Dayton, Centerville, Miamisburg, and Huber Heights in Ohio.
The loss of volume you experience as you grow older is often due to a lack of moisture underneath the skin. Restylane® is a product containing hyaluronic acid, which binds with water to create a fullness that subsequently smooths facial wrinkles. It is one of the few dermal fillers that might also be added to the lips.
Restylane can eliminate wrinkles in the upper face, such as frown lines and crow’s feet, as well as nasolabial folds in the lower portion of the face. As such, this product can be injected into more than one area at the same time to smooth skin and provide fullness.
Female patients should not be pregnant or breastfeeding, but anyone else can consider Restylane® if they do not have any allergies to medication or have not experienced a negative reaction to a dermal filler in the past.
Tell us about any health concerns you have as well as any medications you are taking. We especially need to know if you have had a negative reaction to any dermal filler or injectable treatment in the past.
Arrive 10 to 15 minutes prior to your appointment to allow enough time to complete paperwork before seeing the doctor. Aside from that, there is really nothing else you need to do.
Only a very few minutes, as there is very little preparation time required beforehand and the injection itself typically takes less than one minute.
Minimal bruising and swelling is possible after any dermal filler, including Restylane®.
Unlike with other cosmetic procedures, scarring is one thing you do not have to worry about with dermal fillers and injectable such as Restylane®.
It may take a day or two to see the results, but some patients could need to wait up to a week.
Typically between four and six months.
After smoothing your skin, you may desire a more even complexion, in which case laser resurfacing would be a great option.
