Mole Removal
WHY MOLE REMOVAL
Almost everyone has moles on his or her body, most of which are harmless. However, some people are embarrassed by their moles, and might even worry about them developing into skin cancer. These individuals are good candidates for mole removal performed by one of the board-certified physicians at Miami Valley Plastic Surgeons, serving patients in Troy, Kettering, Dayton, Huber Heights, and Centerville, OH.
Mole removal is a procedure whereby moles, raised pigmented bumps on the skin, are eliminated. This can be performed in one of the following manners:
The types of mole removal we offer are safe, effective and performed on an outpatient basis. Our Dayton area patients who undergo mole removal often notice these benefits as well:
You may want to consider mole removal if:
Depending upon your mole’s characteristics, a biopsy could also be needed to check for skin cancer.
The exact procedure will be explained to you in greater detail during your consultation.
Generally between 30 and 45 minutes.
The area where the mole is removed will be covered with a bandage, which must remain in place for 10 to 14 days to allow time for healing. During this time, it is very important to keep that area as clean and dry as possible.
Some scars are possible, but not likely.
You will notice that your mole is gone immediately, but you will not see the real difference until after your bandage is removed.
Most mole removal procedures provide permanent results. Even so, a new mole sometimes reappears in the same spot several months or even years later and it is virtually impossible to predict when or if this might happen.
If you are also bothered by unusual pigmentations in your skin, you might want to consider laser resurfacing to help even out your skin tone.
Because you may have different needs than any other patient, we will not be able to discuss the exact cost with you until after your consultation. Cash, personal checks, and credit cards are always accepted for any of the procedures we offer, and many of our patients will also qualify for low-interest financing.
