Labiaplasty
WHY LABIAPLASTY
When the labia sag or are disproportionate in size, it may be difficult to find clothing that does not rub against them. This can lead to chafing and discomfort, which is why many women in Dayton, Centerville, Troy, and other areas of Ohio desire labiaplasty surgery. A labia reduction can be performed by one of the board-certified cosmetic surgeons here at Miami Valley Plastic Surgeons.
A labiaplasty involves altering the size of the inner or outer lips of the vagina. There are two basic type of labiaplasty:
1) A labia minora reduction, which involves reducing the inner lips in size
2) A labia majora reduction, in which the outer lips are trimmed
Women who undergo a labia reduction often do so for their own personal comfort rather than for cosmetic reasons. Those who experience painful intercourse or chafing could possibly benefit from this surgery.
Females should not be pregnant or considering pregnancy within the next six months. Women with an active STD could also need to put off this treatment until their condition has improved.
Your labia will be completely shaven, regardless of whether you are having a labia minora or labia majora reduction. Since this is such a delicate, sensitive area, you will probably be given general rather than local anesthesia as well. This means you must spend a bit of time in our recovery area once your procedure is over with to ensure you are not suffering any ill side effects.
Typically, labia reduction surgery can be completed in one to two hours.
Your vagina will be naturally sore and tender, and this can make sex uncomfortable. Most women are also advised against using tampons or menstrual cups during the first cycle following labiaplasty. During the recovery period, which typically lasts around four weeks, you should also refrain from douching or using vaginal suppositories to treat a yeast infection.
Yes, but they will be hidden in the folds of your vagina and will not be visible.
Once you have gone through puberty, your labia are fully developed and cannot grow again, meaning that the results of your surgery will be permanent.
