A labiaplasty involves altering the size of the inner or outer lips of the vagina. There are two basic type of labiaplasty:

1) A labia minora reduction, which involves reducing the inner lips in size
2) A labia majora reduction, in which the outer lips are trimmed

Women who undergo a labia reduction often do so for their own personal comfort rather than for cosmetic reasons. Those who experience painful intercourse or chafing could possibly benefit from this surgery.
