Breast Lift (Mastopexy) in Dayton, OH
Not all women are dissatisfied with the size or shape of their breasts, as many are unhappy with the way they sag after time. A breast lift, or mastopexy procedure, lifts sagging breasts, allowing women in Dayton, Centerville, Troy, and other nearby areas in Ohio to feel more youthful.
What Is a Breast Lift?
Many Dayton area women find that a loss in skin elasticity, breastfeeding, or fluctuations in weight can cause the breasts to droop. A breast lift is a procedure that eliminates sagging skin near the bust line. As sagging skin is lifted, the breasts are simultaneously raised higher up on the chest.
Breast Lift with Augmentation
A breast lift may be performed as a standalone procedure or in conjunction with an augmentation. After placing implants, a surgeon will trim and tighten the skin above or below the breasts. This not only helps contour and shape the breasts, but can also change the way they protrude from the body.
Benefits of a Breast Lift
A mastopexy is a relatively minor procedure when compared to some of the other cosmetic surgeries we perform. As such, patients will notice less downtime afterwards. A breast lift produces a subtle yet dramatic change that allows women to feel better about themselves without making it too obvious that they have had a procedure done. Women who undergo a breast lift often report that they no longer need to wear underwire bras and that finding a bathing suit that compliments their figure is also easier to do.
Who Is the Ideal Candidate for a Breast Lift?
Any woman who has noticed considerable sagging can be a good candidate for a breast lift.
What do I Need to do Before a Breast Lift?
To prepare yourself for anesthesia, you should refrain from taking aspirins or blood thinners for up to two weeks before surgery. If you are a smoker, it is important to quit cigarettes during that same two-week period, and to continue abstaining from them for up to a week or so afterwards.
What Should I Expect on the Day of my Breast Lift?
After undressing, your breasts will be cleansed with an antiseptic cleanser. A marker is then used to identify where excess skin will be removed. Local anesthesia to numb your chest area will then be administered, ensuring you do not feel anything during the procedure that ensues. Once your physician has finished, small sutures will be used to close your incisions and a gauze bandage may also be applied to keep them clean and dry.
How Long Does it Take to Perform a Breast Lift?
The procedure can take between one and two hours, but you should expect to spend as long as four hours in our office. The remainder of the time you will be spent filling out paperwork and being monitored by our staff.
What to Expect After a Breast Lift
Right away, you will notice “perkier” more uplifted breasts. Women with a larger bosom, in particular, may notice less discomfort in the shoulder area since the weight of their heavy breasts are no longer pulling them downward.
Will I Have Scars After Getting a Breast Lift?
That will depend on the location where sagging skin is removed. When it is eliminated from atop the breasts, there is often a visible scar. When skin is trimmed from below the breasts, the scar can often be hidden along the bottom contour.
When Will I See the Results?
You will see results immediately.
How Long Will the Results of a Breast Lift Last?
Aging is a continuous process, so a further reduction in skin elasticity could nonetheless cause your breasts to sag, as could extreme weight loss or future pregnancies. As such, it is not possible to determine how long the results of your mastopexy might last.
